Technical Marketing Engineer
Job Description:
The technical marketing engineer will have product management responsibility for Woven Systems' 10 GE networking product lines. Woven's products are used to build high performance, scalable, data center networking solutions for Web 2.0 data centers and for High Performance Computing applications.
We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a proven track record of successfully driving and marketing products in the data networking enterprise space.
Strong technical skills are required to ensure industry-leading performance, functionality, and scalability for Woven's switching solutions. This position requires strong communication skills to initiate and drive programs aimed at increasing market awareness and share. For the right individual, this position could evolve into a group management function in time.
Responsibilities:
- Sales support including detailed technical explanations of Woven technology and products, preparation of RFP/RFI responses, support of Woven sales partners
- Design, implementation, and delivery of product demonstrations for Woven customers and partners
- Support and coordination of trade show demonstrations, industry-wide technical events including technology "plugfests," representing Woven within various industry organizations including the Ethernet Alliance and Open Fabrics
- Development and documentation of Woven solutions for specific applications and vertical market segments
- Creation of technical sales collateral including white papers, applications notes, solutions documents, data sheets, technical presentations and other sales collateral
- Competitive analysis and positioning. Creation of competitive positioning documentation for the sales force
- Training of Woven and partner systems engineers in the sales force
- Hosting customer visits, speaking at technical seminars and representing Woven Systems at trade shows
- Participation in standards activities and partnering opportunities
The position is based in Santa Clara, CA and will include some travel.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with data center networking switches and routers, including detailed knowledge of Layer 2 Ethernet and Layer 3 TCP/IP and UDP protocols
- Knowledge of Web Services and/or High Performance Computing customers and market segments required
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Exhibits a professional and time-efficient approach to the role; self-disciplined, working with minimal supervision for days at a time
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to create and execute structured presentations and demonstrations to groups of people
- Experience with servers, Microsoft and Linux operating systems, storage networking technologies including NAS, iSCSI, virtualization technologies, and data center management and control protocols is highly desired
- Requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer; Master's degree is preferred. A CCIE certification or equivalent highly desirable
