EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch

Setting a New Standard for Performance

The Woven Systems™ EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch is the first of a new class of switches that is setting the standard for next-generation multi-core servers, server consolidation and virtualization, IP storage, and data center grids. Multiple EFX 1000 switches can be interconnected to create a scalable Layer 2 multi-path 10 GE fabric.

Woven’s unique switch architecture incorporates patented vSCALE™ packet processing technology to efficiently manage the distribution of traffic through the switch fabric. The Dynamic Congestion Avoidance feature dynamically monitors end-to-end Layer 4 traffic flows to detect congestion across a large fabric and automatically redirects traffic onto less congested paths, while maintaining in-order packet delivery. Fully IEEE standards-compliant, the EFX switch delivers massive scalability, powerful performance, and operational simplicity for supporting business critical applications.

Highlights:

  • Industry’s highest capacity Ethernet fabric switch
    • 144 fully non-blocking 10 GE ports in a single 10 RU chassis
  • Industry’s first Ethernet Fabric solution
    • First to build and offer a multi-path fabric with Ethernet
  • High performance
    • Low latency —approximately 1.6µs port-to-port latency and 4.6 µs across a larger Woven 10 GE fabric
    • Dynamic Congestion Avoidance — monitors congestion and rebalances application traffic flows across end-to-end paths to ensure optimal throughput
    • Application resource management — partitioning of fabric resources for logical separation of server, storage, and network resources for different applications
  • High availability
    • Redundant hot-swappable fans, power supplies, and management cards
  • Lower cost of switching
    • Low capital cost, smaller footprint, and lower power compared to alternative 10 GE chassis solutions
  • Simple to operate
    • Seamless upgrades, conforms to all IEEE Ethernet standards for ubiquitous interoperability
