vSCALE Technology

The Woven Systems™ EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch is based on Woven's innovative vSCALE™ packet processing technology that manages the routing and distribution of traffic through the fabric. The vSCALE packet processing ASIC uses Dynamic Congestion Avoidance to dynamically monitor congestion across a large fabric and steer traffic onto less congested alternate paths, without dropping or re-ordering packets.

Latency-based algorithms balance traffic across the fabric for the highest levels of performance. If a link or switch fails, the vSCALE processor automatically reroutes traffic to an alternate path in less than 10 milliseconds, avoiding application time out and server reboot.

vSCALE technology also provides per-application flow visibility and control that enables network administrators to reserve bandwidth resources across the fabric. With multi-path load balancing, the fabric can be partitioned to guarantee dedicated resources to a particular work class or application. For instance, partitions may be created by policy and priority to allocate and logically separate data center server, storage, and network resources for different applications.
